Word Counter recalculates five metrics on every keystroke: word count (splitting on whitespace), character count including spaces, character count excluding spaces, sentence count (splitting on periods, exclamation points, and question marks), and paragraph count (splitting on line breaks). There is no submit button and no delay — the numbers update as you type or paste.
Because everything runs client-side, you can paste an early draft, a password-protected document excerpt, or client-confidential copy without it leaving your browser tab. A copy button lets you grab the text back out once you are done checking length.
Word counting sounds trivial but has edge cases: multiple spaces between words, empty lines, and punctuation-only input all need consistent handling so the number on screen matches what a reader would intuitively count. This tool trims the input, splits on whitespace runs for words, and filters out empty fragments for sentence and paragraph counts so blank lines or extra spaces do not inflate the numbers.
